Tumor-Associated Antigens

The antibody is directed against the N-terminal domain of the human androgen receptor. AR is expressed e.g. in the testis, (Sertoli and Leydig cells), fibroblasts, breast epithelium, in hepatocytes and the prostate.

In adults, CEA is found in colorectal cancer, in carcinomas of the large and small intestine, and in tumors of the pancreas, lung and thyroid.

Recognizes a 180 kD band; no cross-reactivity with biliary glycoprotein and antigen 1/11 (NCA).

LK2H10 represents an excellent marker for most neuroendocrine, neuronal and adrenal tumors. Merkel cell tumors of skin and small cell lung CA react weakly. The antibody reacts with the 68 kD protein (chromogranin A).

The antibody recognizes the epithelial cell adhesion molecule Ep-CAM (also described as 17-1A antigen or EPG34) widely expressed on epithelia and tumors derived therefrom. Excellent marker to discriminate epithelial from mesothelial structures.

Ep-CAM (homophylic cell-cell adhesion molecule, also named ESA, EGP40, 17-1A antigen, KSA, GA7333-2) is a 40 kD epithelial protein expressed on the baso-lateral cell surface of many epithelial tissues. Antibody stains most epithelial cells and carcinoma de-rived therefrom.

Reacts with the 400 kD mucous glycoprotein in the glycocalix of glandular epithelial cells and in carcinoma cells. No cross-reaction with leukemias and no reaction with normal rectal epithelia and colorectal adenomas.
