Peptide YY is produced in glicentin cells of the gut. It can be localized in the rectum, colon and ileum, and less abundant in the jejunum and duodenum. PYY may occur in endocrine tumors of the pancreas and the rectum.

VIP is localized in nerve fibers in the central and peripheral nervous system. It is found in neuroblastomas of endocrine tumors in the pancreas. The antibody is raised against synthetic human VIP.
