Cytokeratins / Keratins

Specific for keratin K1 in suprabasal layers of cornified squamous epithelia, e.g. the suprabasal layer of scalp and foot sole. Negative with non-keratinizing stratified and non-stratified epithelia (e.g. esophagus, duodenum).

Useful for the recognition of keratinizing cells in squamous cell carcinoma of epidermis, lung, bladder, cervix, esophagus etc.

MAb DE-K10 specifically recognizes the 56.6 kD keratin K10 polypeptide in squamous cell carcinomas from e.g. epidermis, lung, bladder, cervix, esophagus.

For the recognition of keratinizing cells in squamous cell carcinomas from epidermis, lung, bladder, cervix, esophagus etc. The antibody reacts only with suprabasal cells of the epidermis and not with basal cells.

Useful as a marker for corneal type differentiation (positive for epithelial cells of cornea) and for studying corneal epithelial stem cells.

Ks13.1 reacts with non-cornified squamous epithelia and neoplasms derived therefrom. Protease pretreatment improves the performance of this excellent marker in immunohistochemistry.

Mab 2D7 specifically recognizes keratin K13 (54 kD polypeptide) present in non-cornifying squamous epithelia and in transitional epithelium of the bladder.

Excellent marker to discriminate non-cornified squamous epithelia (esophagus, vagina, gingival) from those of different origin.
